Germany Alumni Chapter Celebrates 60 Years of Service with D9 Presidents
On May 8-11, the brothers of Germany Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. celebrated their 60th chapter anniversary and hosted eight of the nine Divine Nine National Presidents in Kaiserslautern, and across the greater Rhineland-Pfalz federal state of Germany. Germany Alumni Chapter (GAC), affectionately known as the “Flagship Chapter” as the first alumni chapter outside of the continental United States, was chartered on June 3, 1964. Being visited by Founder Edward Giles Ervin himself in 1980, chapter brothers filled his trip with a memorable experience in Deustchland providing engagements with two top black generals, engulfing him in the local population to understand the environment and allowing him to incite words of wisdom while enjoying the traditional black and white ball the chapter traditionally holds annually. The GAC decided to emulate a similar experience for the National Pan-Hellenic Leadership ensuring a historic and fruitful visit. Samuel Bunton (Gamma Epsilon 1997), Polemarch, Germany Alumni Chapter brought the vision to the chapter members and the committee over a year ago, recognizing the significance of 60 years of not only achievement but service.
Lambda Chapter is Building Brotherhood and Serving the Community
This past semester has been a remarkable one for the Lambda Chapter, as they engaged inimpactful events that demonstrated their commitment to leadership, communityservice, and collaboration. LEADERSHIP ON AN INTERNATIONAL STAGEBrother Miles McMikle had the honor of attending the inaugural leadership retreat in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, in his capacity as the Northeastern Province Junior Province Vice Polemarch. This event provided an incredible opportunity for leadership development and networking with brothers from across the nation. COLLABORATIVE GAME NIGHTIn partnership with Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority, Inc., the chapter hosted a game night that brought together male and female students from across campus. The event fostered connections, promoted inclusivity, and strengthened the bonds within our campus community. THANKSGIVING SEASON OF SERVICE:During the Thanksgiving season, the brothers of Lambda Chapter were also heavily involved in community service initiatives. On campus, brothers prepared and distributed meals to homeless individuals in Philadelphia, making a direct and heartfelt impact on those in need. Additionally, several brothers COLLABORATIVE FOOD SERVICE EVENTPolemarch Tyler Rippie, represented the Lambda Chapter by participating in a food service event alongside members of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., and Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. This collaboration highlighted the power of unity and shared purpose in addressing community needs. CAMPUS BAKE SALELambda also partnered with the Ladies of Elegance, an all-female non- Greek step team on campus, to host a bake sale. This event not only helped us raise funds for future initiatives but also brought together diverse groups on campus in a shared effort to support our community goals. These events underscore the Lambda Chapter’s dedication to making a difference both on campus and in the broader community. Through leadership, service, and collaboration, we continue to embody the values of Kappa Alpha Psi. We look forward to seeing the goodbrothers build on these efforts in the months to come.
Service and Leadership: Omicron Chapter Finishes the Year Strong
The Omicron Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. proudly reflects on a year filled withmeaningful events, achievements, and service. The year began with the annual Black Love Day, co-hosted with the Lambda Chapter (Temple University,bringing together Black students from New York City colleges to discuss the importance of black love–while assembling Valentine themed candy bags for children in Harlem. The Spring 2024 semester also marked the chapter’s new member presentation, welcoming new initiates Garrett Williams, Courtney Burress IV, Lucas Bullock, and Keanen Andrews. These new brothers led a successful Kappa Week, featuring events like “Kappa Love Day” in honor of Black Women’s History Month, voter registration drives, mentorship programs for young men, collegiate men’s talk, and a post-midterms paint-and-sip session. Individual achievements further highlighted the chapter’s success. Brother Andrews was named Northeastern Province Lieutenant Strategus and Brother Williams graduated from Fordham University with a B.S. in Business Administration. During the summer, members secured prestigious internships, including Brother Courtney Brown Jr. with Sixth Street Partners and Brother Courtney Burress IV in cancer research at Northwestern University.In the fall, the chapter continued its dedication to service by supporting students on their first day of classes, volunteering with P.O.T.S Bronx to clean the community and serve meals, and participating in the American Cancer Society Breast Cancer Walk. The brothers also donated care packages to chemotherapy patients at Columbia Irving Medical Center and hosted a college readiness tour for Chicago students from Kenwood Academy. The chapter further strengthened partnerships with sororities, collaborating with the Rho Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta on a campus discussion about the 2024 Presidential Election, with the Lambda Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha to create care packages for new mothers, and with the Epsilon Tau Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta on a holiday toy drive for Bronx children. The year concluded with the chapter’s annual toy drive alongside the New York Alumni Chapter and the graduation of Bro. Courtney Brown Jr. from Columbia University with a B.A. in Psychology. Through these activities, the Omicron Chapter demonstrated its commitment to service, leadership, and community impact, setting a strong foundation for continued success in the years ahead.

Congratulating Our National Guide Right Award Winners
The 2024 National Kappa League Conference was held on July 12-14. During the conference there was a celebration of excellence and achievement in Guide Right; specifically awards for the Grand Chapter Jay Crosby Award and the Grand Chapter Leon W. Steward Award. There was some tough competition, but true to our principles, the Northeastern Province rose to the occasion and had several winners: The Jay Crosby Award is for the Outstanding Alumni Guide Right program, named in honor of Elder Watson Diggs Laureate Jay Crosby, who served as founder and mentor of the Dayton Kappa League Program. The Leon W. Steward Award recognizes the most outstanding member of a Guide Right Program, named in honor of the founder of the National Guide Right movement of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. Hakeem Jeffries Speaks at the 94th Province Council
In his address to the Northeastern Province of Kappa Alpha Psi, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries expounded on the historical pattern of African American progress being met with backlash, particularly from certain segments of the white community. He cited the election of President Barack Obama as a significant leap forward, which was then followed by the election of President Donald Trump, a shift that many interpreted as a reactionary response to the progress represented by Obama’s presidency. Jeffries’ speech at the fraternity event emphasized the importance of recognizing this cycle of advancement and resistance as part of the African American experience.
Brother Michael E. Langley Becomes First Black Four-Star Marine General
The Marine Corps announced Tuesday that Lt. Gen. Michael E. Langley will become the first Black four-star general in the Marines’ 246-year history after the Senate confirmed his promotion this week. Langley is a Spring 1982 initiate of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.’s Iota Alpha Chapter at the University of Texas at Arlington. In his new role, he will oversee 6,000 troops as the new head of U.S. Africa Command at its headquarters in Stuttgart, Germany. Kappa Alpha Psi took to social media shortly after the announcement and congratulated their brother calling this a “monumental and historic achievement.”
Elder Watson Diggs Portrait Unveiling at Indiana University
September 30, 2023, marked another iconic “Moment in Kappa History” as the fraternity witnessed the unveiling of our revered Founder Elder Watson Diggs portrait at the Indiana University School of Education Wendell W. Wright Education Building. The event was spearheaded by Grand Historian Kevin Scott and attended by Grand Polemarch Jimmy McMikle and a host of other fraternity members. The Family of Founder Diggs was also present to witness this awesome honor for our beloved Founder. Special thanks to Indiana University for the partnership in this effort and to Mr. Shawn Michael Warren the artist.
